Grizzly Man

After watching the documentary Grizzly Man, I learned what the basics of documentary film making are. I learned that the camera is not supposed to be thought about. Its supposed to make the viewer seem like they were actually witnessing the scene; good camera work is making the viewer forget that its just video footage. I also learned that commentary is a very important part of documentaries apart from the audio of the raw video.

In the case of Grizzly Man, I think that Timothy Treadwell was just in his intentions and seeing how passionate he was about those bears I think he died the way he would have like to.

Defintion of Documentary Film

Definition of Documentary (Wikipedia)

Documentary film is a broad category of visual expressions that is based on the attempt, in one fashion or another, to "document" reality. Although "documentary film" originally referred to movies shot on film stock, it has subsequently expanded to include video and digital productions that can be either direct-to-video or made for a television series. Documentary, as it applies here, works to identify a "filmmaking practice, a cinematic tradition, and mode of audience reception" that is continually evolving and is without clear boundaries
